Examples of Specialty DOT Work

As detailed in the Iowa Transportation Improvement Program for the 2020-2024 period, a number of specialty projects are currently being scheduled and contracted, chiefly centered around improving the state’s transportation infrastructure and creating opportunities for expanded economic activity. Concrete construction comprises a significant portion of these projects, including but not limited to the following:

The stewardship, safety, maintenance, and modernization of the state’s existing highway system.
The continued repair and maintenance of the state’s structurally deficient bridges.
The reconstruction and improvement of interstate systems facilitating major freight movements (I-29, I-35, I-74, I-80, I-380, and I-80/I-29.)
The reconstruction and improvement of non-interstate corridors (U.S. 30 in Tama and Benton Counties, U.S. 52 in Dubuque County, U.S 61 in Des Moines County, and U.S. 63 in Wapello County.)
